When not ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of Commonwealth fish resources, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) staff members are busy raising awareness and funds for issues close to our hearts.
Throughout the month of November AFMA staff (men and women) raised donations and awareness for men’s health issues. This year AFMA had a total of two teams taking part in ‘Movember’.
AFMA’s Canberra team, The rubber lipped Morwongs, and AFMA’s Darwin team, FOs (Fisheries Officers) with Mos banded together to secure a total of $3 519 for the cause. Money raised has gone straight to the Movember Foundation which currently supports close to 300 projects worldwide aiming to stop men from dying too young and assist those who are doing it tough. These Mo funded projects are tackling men’s health issues such as testicular and prostate cancer research, rehabilitation and mental health issues.
Congratulations to The rubber lipped Morwongs and FOs with Mos for a great effort and thank you to all those who made donations.
