The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) has set levy rates for 2016-17.

As per previous years, the total levy for 2016-17 will be divided into three instalments. The first of the three invoices will be sent out on 10 January 2017, with payment due on 7 February 2017.  Invoices two and three will follow in March and May 2017.

While there has been an overall net increase in the amount to be collected, nearly half of the Commonwealth fisheries will see a decrease in levies.

Seven fisheries and one sector of the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery (SESSF) levies decreased while the remaining seven fisheries and two sectors of the SESSF have seen an increase in levy for 2016-17.

AFMA remains committed to providing efficient and cost effective fisheries management and continues to work closely with the Commonwealth Fisheries Association (CFA) to identify opportunities for future efficiencies.

Further detail on how your fishery is affected, including individual concession rates, is contained in the AFMA Levy Arrangements Guide 2016-17, available on afma.gov.au.
