The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) 2014-15 Annual Report was tabled in Parliament today (23 October 2015).
This report provides details of the operations and performance of the AFMA for the financial year ending 30 June 2015.
The report highlights substantial progress for AFMA in advancing the sustainability of Commonwealth fisheries and their economic returns to the Australian community including:
- increased efficiency through the use of technology to deliver services and receive information
- increased sustainability through healthier fish stocks
- improved seafood security through international cooperation on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
