Have you ever wondered what fish is caught in Australia each year?
Well, now you can find out because for the first time, AFMA has put catch data for most Commonwealth commercial fisheries online.
Hundreds of species of fish are caught in Australia’s Commonwealth fisheries each year and we collect detailed information about these catches.
Good data is essential to keep our fish stocks healthy and make sure there is plenty of fresh seafood for the Australian community and a healthy fishing industry.
The data that we have put online shows the recorded catch that is landed at ports around Australia each year and you can search the data by species, fishery, catch amount or year.
We would also like to hear what you think about the data, especially if it was useful and how you used it. This will help us improve the way that we present fisheries data in the future.
The data is on the www.data.gov.au website and can be accessed from the AFMA website. As with all data, please take care when using it to make sure you understand its limitations.
To access and read important information about the data, please visit our website www.afma.gov.au.
