Easter is just around the corner, and what could be a more ‘cracking’ choice for your menu than Australian seafood from a sustainably managed fishery.
With so many egg-ceptional choices and great catches across Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) fisheries recently, it is a perfect time to have a seafood egg‑stravaganza.
AFMA’s acting CEO Dr Nick Rayns said that AFMA managed fisheries are strictly monitored and regulated so that current and future generations can enjoy fresh, local, Australian seafood.
“Whether tuna gets your tastebuds tingling, scallops make you salivate, prawns are more palatable or perhaps you find eastern school whiting exciting, there are plenty of delicious seafood delights to choose from this Easter,” Dr Rayns said.
“Moreover, at a time when chocolate consumption reaches a peak point, enjoying a meal made with Australian seafood full of omega-3, good fats and high protein content is a great choice for a healthy diet.
“AFMA’s strict monitoring, combined with the commercial fishing industry’s commitment to sustainable fisheries, will help ensure that seafood lovers continue to enjoy a healthy supply of seafood for many years to come.”
So however you celebrate this Easter, whether you snap up some calamari and chips from your local takeaway or fry up some flathead, buying Australian seafood is sustainable choice from an Australian fishing industry we can be proud of.
